North Africa – Morocco 11-Day Panorama Tour

Meet at Toronto Pearson International Airport and board your direct flight to Casablanca, Morocco’s largest city. (Round-trip direct international airfare included.)

Upon arrival in Casablanca, transfer to Rabat, the capital of Morocco and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2012. Highlights include the Royal Palace of Rabat, a blend of Arab and Andalusian architecture, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, Morocco’s father of independence, with intricate bronze latticework, the Hassan Tower and its 300+ surrounding columns and a photo opportunity with the Royal Guard on horseback.

After lunch, continue to Tangier, a coastal city uniquely located between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, only 20 km from the Spanish coast. 

After breakfast, drive to Chefchaouen, one of the world’s three renowned blue cities. Its charming blue-painted streets, doors, and buildings offer a romantic, photogenic setting.

Then visit Tetouan, the “White City,” known for its almost entirely whitewashed architecture and UNESCO status.

Explore Meknes, one of Morocco’s four imperial cities (UNESCO World Cultural Heritage, 1996), featuring an unfinished Royal Palace inspired by Versailles, a 25 km of city walls, the Mansour Gate decorated with green and white tiles and the Sultan’s Mausoleum.

Continue to Volubilis (UNESCO World Cultural Heritage, 1997), a well-preserved Roman city dating back to the 3rd century BC, with grand ruins and stunning mosaic artwork.

Visit the Fez Medina (UNESCO World Cultural Heritage, 1981), with over 9,000 winding alleyways — Morocco’s most captivating ancient city. Visit a leather tannery, brass artisans, weaving shops and browse and shop for high-quality leather goods

Drive to Ifrane, known as “Little Switzerland” for its alpine charm.
Continue toward Erfoud, passing Mount Atlas, Morocco’s highest peak.

Erfoud – An oasis in the Sahara Desert

Upon arrival, ride a 4×4 vehicle into the Sahara Desert. Enjoy an optional camel ride across the golden dunes to witness a magnificent desert sunset

Travel to the stunning Todra Gorge, with 300m vertical cliffs. Continue along the Dades Valley to Ouarzazate, via the famed “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs” — historic mud-brick fortresses built by noble families in the 17th–18th centuries.

In the afternoon, we will drive through the Dades Valley to Ousassat in the southwest. This road is the most beautiful and attractive desert landscape road in Morocco, known as the Castle Avenue. 

Enjoy a bonus stop at Atlas Film Studios, where Game of Thrones, Gladiator, and Ben-Hur were filmed. Visit Aït Benhaddou (UNESCO World Cultural Heritage), a Berber fortress village between the Atlas Mountains and the desert. Travel to Marrakech, the famous “Red City” and also a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site.

Visit the Bahia Palace, the largest of its time, combining Islamic and Moroccan design. Stroll through Majorelle Garden, once loved by Yves Saint Laurent. Explore Djemaa el-Fna Square (UNESCO World Cultural Heritage) with its daytime markets, night-time food stalls and performers. For evening highlight, enjoy a free Fantasia Show and traditional roast lamb banquet.

Drive to El Jadida, a coastal city and UNESCO World Heritage Site, with colonial-era architecture including the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption. Then return to Casablanca and enjoy a farewell dinner at the iconic Rick’s Café (a North African spy theme restaurant), inspired by Casablanca, with romantic live music.

After breakfast, visit the Grand Hassan II Mosque, the world’s second-largest, costing over $600 million and holding up to 100,000 worshippers.

Then transfer to the airport for your flight back to Toronto.
